St Gertrudes Primary School Upgrade
The architect originally requested large Bi-Parting room dividers to span the full width of the building (approx 6.5m). They wanted STC 43 units to reduce sound transmission, and to line the cavity frames with pinboards to attach student artwork.
CS suggested the use of CS AluLite doors with CS WhiteBoard skins. The doors would be stable and more reliable due to the aluminium frame with only a slight reduction in the STC rating. The benefits of having a large operable wall/whiteboard with a pinboard cavity wall were attractive to the teachers and the architect.
The large room dividers were manufactured as oversized Bi-Parting CS AluSealed units with CS WhiteBoard doors protruding 100mm. These provide 2100 x 3000mm sized whiteboards when doors are closed, and a 2100 x 3000mm opening between rooms when the doors are open - as well as sound reduction and pinboard walls.
The whiteboard wall offers a great teaching aid to be used in conjunction with electronic smartboards at the front of the room, with the added benefit of being able to open the doors and perform group activities between the two classes.
