Electronic WC Doors

During an upgrade of train carriages for Kiwirail, Steve Bond, Managing Director of Fibreglass Developments Limited (FDL) noticed the functionality of the CS automatic toilet door systems used by Exeloo. He made contact with CS FOR DOORS regarding retrofitting components into a custom design.

After visiting the test rig on site, CS FOR DOORS software engineers proposed a complete solution including the interface panel, push buttons, indicator lights and safety functionality. Specific design mods for FDL included fully programmable software built into the controller and 24V DC power supply to match the supply of the carriage.

This development makes costly pneumatic designs a thing of the past as the software on the controller allows for body roll on the carriage affecting inertia of the door. It is safer and more functional than an air ram system.

Both Kiwirail and FDL were suitably impressed with the solution and hope to use this technology in other areas such as the inter-carriage doors.
